AVAIL to Plant White Oaks in Eastern Kentucky

LEXINGTON, Kentucky, March 4, 2024 - AVAIL—a leading digital content management platform for the global architecture, engineering, and construction (AEC) industry—has pledged to plant trees in the names of its customers starting March 2024.

In partnership with the Arbor Day Foundation, AVAIL plans to plant 12,500 white oaks in 2024 at two former mining sites in Eastern Kentucky. AVAIL’s sustainability initiative will not only help reestablish native forestland but also support one of Kentucky’s burgeoning industries, bourbon. The industry relies on white oak barrels to age bourbon.

The trees will create a lasting legacy for future generations and replenish the state’s white oak supply, as well as immediately begin to create watershed protection and wildlife habitats for a balanced, healthy ecosystem in Eastern Kentucky.

A native of Pike County and founder of the Lexington, Kentucky-based business, AVAIL CEO Randall Stevens said the initiative was a natural fit for AVAIL. “We wanted to do something to honor our customers in the building industry, as well as promote sustainability.”

“Plus, we’re Kentuckians, and we support the bourbon economy. We take it around the world with us to share with customers and friends, and now we’re taking further steps to ensure not only a healthy planet but a healthy regional industry we just happen to enjoy.”
