Supporting Sustainability in the AEC Industry
As a member of the architecture, engineering, and construction (AEC) industry, AVAIL understands the importance of sustainability.
The built environment and construction accounts for about 40% of global energy related CO2 emissions, according to consultant services PwC, which reports on sustainability and environmental, social, and governance (ESG) metrics.
The building industry has a great impact on our planet, and—while we build software, not buildings—we know sustainability is top-of-mind for our customers, the world’s leading AEC firms.
In fact, 78% of respondents from Autodesk’s 2024 State of Design & Make survey—which is composed of over 5,000 AEC industry leaders—say that sustainability is crucial for future business growth in the next three years. Sustainability initiatives are no longer a trend, Autodesk’s Spotlight on Sustainability says, they are necessary.
As Kentuckians, the AVAIL team additionally feels compelled to promote environmentally aware programs for the health of our state. With plentiful natural resources like limestone-filtered water and destinations like the breathtaking Red River Gorge, Kentucky is beautiful. We would like to keep it that way.
For these reasons, AVAIL decided to launch a sustainability initiative in partnership with the Arbor Day Foundation in the beginning of 2024 to help reestablish native Eastern Kentucky forestland.
By the end of September 2024, our donations will total 3,350 white oak trees, planted in the names of 24 AVAIL customers including Gensler, Perkins&Will, SMMA, Woods Bagot, and Gray.
Tree recipients like Perkins&Will are awarded a certificate of tree planting.
AVAIL’s sustainability initiative will create a lasting legacy for future generations and replenish the state’s white oak supply, as well as immediately begin to create watershed protection and wildlife habitats for a balanced, healthy ecosystem in Eastern Kentucky.
