Solve the Revit Template Trade-off

MANAGING REVIT TEMPLATES JUST GOT EASY

We love and hate Revit templates.  They simplify standard Revit management but make them clumsy and difficult for designers to use.  Have you ever seen a Revit Drafting View broken out as its own discrete, searchable, previewable object - without any need to open Revit?  Search, find, and drag-and-drop Revit content that once required lengthy dialog boxes to access.  With your content now visualized, taggable, and searchable, users can easily find and access those buried assets.

If your team isn’t using AVAIL Harvest, chances are your all-star content isn’t getting the reach it deserves.

Every design firm, regardless of size, age, or typology, has at least one standout content set that team members consistently rely on.  Maybe it’s the Door Families, the Door Details - a collection of 3D potted ferns - or a Project Template that provides the ‘content oasis’’ for weary standards seekers.

Whatever it is, if your team isn't using Harvest, chances are your all-star content isn't getting the reach it deserves.  The following 15-minute AVAIL workflow can help set the stage for a sweeping content transformation:

1.  Identify Wins + Create Channels (~5 Minutes)

Make a list of the content you have that’s ready to go.  For this sample, we’ll say “Door Families + Door Details + Plants.”  You can either create a generic channel for all the content (“Revit 2021!”) or create more specific channels.  Channel Card Images can be designed to help call people into your ready-to-use channels.

2.  Harvest (~10 Minutes)

The ease of use for AVAIL Harvest surprises first-time users:  simply run the utility on the container file(s) that your content lives in, filter by selection or content type, and watch the channels instantly populate with high-resolution thumbnails and meta-data for each element.  Our Single-Container Source Type automates all file updates, so you never have to worry if the content in AVAIL is up-to-date.

3.  Reap Instantaneous Benefits

Have you ever seen a Revit Drafting View broken out as its own discrete, searchable, previewable object - without any need to open Revit?  This is the new paradigm with AVAIL Harvest.  Search, find, and drag-and-drop Revit content that once required lengthy dialog boxes to access.  With your content now visualized, taggable, and searchable, new opportunities for bridge-building begin to open up.

4.  Make the Connection

With this first segment of content uploaded, you’ll begin to understand your library in a new way:  everything is visual, everything is connected, and the file updates are being automated behind the scenes.  The adding of additional content types is a rinse-and-repeat, allowing you to build bridges between content types in unprecedented ways.

All of a sudden, your bank of all-star content is bigger - and more accessible - than ever before.

This simple workflow process takes the guesswork out of amplifying, distributing, and maintaining your Revit content libraries, making BIM life easier, more productive, and more transparent than ever before.  To learn more about Harvest, feel free to reach out to me for a discovery call or check out these webinars and blog posts below!
