LEXINGTON, Kentucky, January 14, 2025 - Software company AVAIL—which creates content management system (CMS) solutions for the global architecture, engineering, and construction (AEC) industry—has officially released AVAIL 5.0, including new features Related Content and Help Chatbot.
AVAIL 5.0 was developed with the future direction of AVAIL’s product development in mind. AVAIL aims to create systems that bring information to end users, streamlining the design process by reducing manual tasks that kill time at AEC industry firms.
For example, the new Related Content feature—which gives AVAIL Publishers the power to connect different pieces of content to enhance navigation and build relationships between content—is laying the foundation for AVAIL’s plans for the future. The first goal with Related Content was to create an interface for building relationships between content manually with the hope that one day soon AVAIL will be able to begin building them automatically using analytics data, workflow analysis, and advanced artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning (ML) techniques. The core database infrastructure is now in place to build upon in 2025. Learn more about Related Content in CEO and Founder Randall Stevens’ blog Unleash the Power of Connected Information with AVAIL’s New Feature and AVAIL’s press release announcing Related Content capabilities for AVAIL Select.
Likewise, the new AVAIL Desktop feature Help Chatbot is the first of AVAIL’s AI-powered chatbots that are designed to bring information to customers. Next, the development team plans to launch custom chatbots that can read firm-specific materials such as SOP (Standard Operating Procedure) documents or historical RFPs (Requests For Proposals) and answer questions about them in real time. This will help AVAIL customers maintain their own reliable knowledge hubs in AVAIL and empower their teams to find the firm-specific information they need faster. Learn more about this initiative in the blog Custom Chatbot For Your Firm’s RFPs, Onboarding Docs, and More.
In addition to Related Content and the Help Chatbot, AVAIL 5.0 also launches the Palettes feature as an official AVAIL Desktop feature. Released in May 2024 as a preview feature in AVAIL 4.6, Palettes give all AVAIL users the ability to curate unique lists of content to streamline their project workflows. From listening to customers like global engineering design firm IMEG and others, AVAIL developed Palettes to better support project-specific workflows. AVAIL’s goal is to help project managers tie all useful project materials together, eliminate distractions, and accelerate projects through the Construction Documents phase. Another new feature is the new sort and filter options by File Name and Date Added to AVAIL. These additional options will help users find content faster than ever before.
Other upgrades to AVAIL support efficiency of AVAIL Publishers. They include:
- AVAIL User Groups: Create custom groups and map Active Directory groups for simpler sharing.
- Automatic Thumbnail Generation: Thumbnails are now automatically generated for 30 of the most common file types found in AVAIL.
- Channel Audit: Run an audit to automatically find broken content locations in a Channel.
- Last Updated Filter: Find updated content quickly.

AVAIL 5.0 exemplifies AVAIL’s dedication to listening to customers and not only building functionality into the product to increase efficiency today but also thinking ahead for all of AEC and what will be most useful to firms in the future.
